Philosophy of Education
I believe that all students have a right to equal education in a safe and warm classroom environment. All students should be exposed to art as a creative outlet, a problem-solving skill builder and an introspective device. All students have the right to create, and the teacher should be the one to encourage different types of learning techniques as well as show different kinds of materials and styles to accommodate the unique students of today. All students learn differently, and the teacher should provide a range of teaching methods so that all students are included in the learning process. The art classroom should be a safe place for students to come and learn while they express themselves, and the art teacher should be a beacon of inspiration and knowledge for the students to respect. By the end of each school year, students should recognize art making as a salvation from troubles, a voice for current and social events and a talent that all can develop.
An ideal classroom environment should be inviting and secure so that the teacher can truly develop strong relationships with the students as well as let the students feel comfortable with their teacher. The art classroom should be an environment where the students and teacher learn from each other. The art teacher should be the person that shows students the necessary skills to be a better artist in the future, embraces student individuality and lets students have a voice in their learning. As the art teacher, I would constantly reflect on my teaching methods and make sure that differentiation was properly executed. I would additionally reflect with my students on how effective my teaching methods were for assignments, along with how certain things can improve.
My animated teaching style along with positive reinforcement and encouragement will allow for my classroom to be a respectful and safe learning environment for students of all kinds!
